The Essence and Ethos of TrulyHelen

It has been quiet on Mom Boss Insider the last few months. But not because I have been silent. I have been planning, plotting, and persisting. So here I am. Reengaging my Mom Boss Insider community newsletter with the launch of my new brand and new endeavor TrulyHelen.

You may immediately think I am leaving Tentho – on the contrary. Tentho is expanding. Into the work of education and community that fills our soul.

And TrulyHelen.com is the first launch.

I ended 2023 as one of the top 5 most pivotal times of my life. Personal stress coming out of my ears with 3 kids ages 5 and under, the family sick for nearly 6 weeks with rotating illnesses (thank God nothing serious), limited childcare help, financial stress as with many young families and the changed economy, a plethora of work stress (you name it we probably had it), aging parents. To top it off, the stresses culminated with the holiday season. Annual societal pressures led to holiday fear rather than holiday cheer (I vow for next year to be different)!

All of this crashed over the holidays with me at odds and unable to communicate with my strongest alley, biggest supporter, my voice of reason, the man that does so much for our family. My husband.

Looking from the outside in, the stress seems obvious. There were so many little habits and daily routines that needed to change in order to reduce the stress. And so, we did. One step forward at a time.

And I started with me. I spent the month of January evaluating deeply what makes me happy. Who I am now. I am a different person now as a mother, as a wife, as an individual, as a daughter, as a friend, as an entrepreneur, than I was 6 years ago… 10 years ago…

But who is this person?

I dove deep into the audio book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Let’s be real. I do not have the time to sit and read (although I do enjoy a hardcopy book in my hands). But I listened. On walks with the baby. Doing laundry. Driving. Cleaning dishes. Brushing my teeth. I listened. I took notes. I reflected.

And then I acted.

The answer: all of it makes me happy. I love it all. If I can see it as a blessing and not stress. The possibilities are endless. To see my schedule as movement forward in living with alignment to my personal mission statement. But I didn't have a personal mission statement. I had always used goals. And if goals are the end result then it is a tired, daily run on the hamster wheel of stress.

So, I developed a personal mission statement. And this is the essence of what is now branded as TrulyHelen.

Our ethos.

I share this with you today as a guide for the content that is to come. I share my vulnerability. These thoughts are a look deep into my soul. And my gosh – I strive to be this, but I fail. Daily. But it is the essence and ethos of TrulyHelen. I truly believe there are words of wisdom in this for us all.
